In most cases in the Bennington Triangle, victims or their bodies were never found. They were volatilized in their rooms, in their gardens, in gas stations and other places in this mysterious |triangle| .
Beyond these disappearances, there are also many stories and strange rumors, people who have become insane, special scents, intense UFO activity, strange lights and mysterious creatures sighted in the woods.
These events were never explained and they’ve intrigued deeply the people throughout Vermont history. Is not even know why the region is considered as a |triangle| but this place is truly bizarre. Bennington, for example, is one of those cities in Vermont located in the northeastern United States.
Triangle Region in Bennington it is cursed? That’s why people doesn’t want to live here? It seems that mountainous terrain from Glastenbury frightened the population from the beginning because it was never in a huge number in these places to be organized in cities. Officially, in 1880, 241 people lived in the region. Then, the city’s population fell dramatically from 17 in 1920 and to only three permanent residents in 1930.
In 1950, there was only one inhabitant but on the go. Glastenbury was already known as |ghost town| after 1930. To the Bennington Triangle and Glastenbury Mountain town have been associated with many local legends which tell us that the four winds meet in a place that is conducive for the experiences that exceed the limits of this world.
According to the indians, in the forest is a magical stone that possesses the ability to redraw everything was passing nearby. Indians were avoiding the mysterious area around Glastenbury Mountain and considered it cursed. They only used it as a cemetery. But it was long before it occurs disappearances of people. The first white settlers were not taken seriously the legend until one of their family members and close friends have started to disappear without leaving a trace.
Middie Rivers was a resident of 75 years old but perfectly healthy and a hunting guide and an experienced fisherman. He lived in this area all his life. On 12 November 1945 he had to drive four hunters in the forests of Glastenbury. When the group returned to camp situated near the road in 9 and Long Trail Road, Middie Rivers splitted from the hunters in a place known as Bickford Hollow. He promised to return to camp for dinner, but has not been seen again.
Two volunteers and the police swept area to find the disappeared man for more than a month, but in vain. No one has found him dead or alive. The only thing found in a neighboring meadow was an unused bullet that could have come from ancient cartouche guide.
After about a year, on 1 December 1946 Paula Welden, a 18-year student at Bennington College, disappeared. She had gone for a walk during the day at Long Traid near Glastenbury Mountain. A thorough investigation revealed that a resident led her to his home in Woodford Hollow. Later the same day, Paula Welder asked a clerk at the Bennington Banner newspaper which is the road to his house.
Many people saw her and wave her when she went to Long Traid. It was the last time when she was seen. Paula Welden has not returned to school. FBI and the New York state police and Connecticut helped the Vermont authorities looking for the young woman disappeared. Every square inch of the mountainous region was investigated and analyzed in vain. Despite a recompese and the sweep of 11 000 hectares of forest in Glastenbury the girl was never found. Not even a clue found! Like she would have simply vanished!
Three years later there was a truly bizarre case. Another inhabitant of Bennington mysteriously disappeared. His name was James E. Tetford, a man of 68 years who spent his holidays with his relatives in northern Vermont. He boarded a bus to St. Alban to return to the Old Soldier home to Bennington. The bus had no stop and James Tetford was in it.
Now only Glastenbury Mountain separated him from his house. But when the bus arrived at Bennington, Tetford was not there and nothing could explain his absence. Again, the disappeared man research has not led to any results. There was found no trace of him.
On 12 October 1950, Paul Jepson, a 8 years aged boy , has disappeared without leaving a trace. The boy had left with the family truck to go near mountain. His mother left the vehicle just for few moments. When she returned, the child was gone. It all happened during a sunny day afternoon. Civil and military research began immediately. Dogs sent by the New Hampshire state police lost the track of the boy near Glanstenbury Mountain, at the intersection of Chapel and East Roads.
In fact, it was the same place where Paula Welden vanished. Paul Jepson Sr., the boy’s father said something strange during the investigation. His son had a strong desire to go into the woods. Why show such a desire? What was so special in the surrounding mountain? After 16 days, on October 28, Frieda Langer, a 53 years aged woman in North Adams, entered in a small piece of forest on the east side of the Glastenbury. It was late on one afternoon.
She and her cousin Herbert Elsner were walking. After 1 km, Frieda went into a river. She left her cousin there and returned running to change her clothes. Herbert Elsner was waiting for Frieda, but she never return. He returned and discovered that she did not come and that no one saw coming her out of the woods.
Frieda Langer knew the terrain well and could not simply get lost. Again, teams began to explore the region, including aircraft and helicopter. They did not find anything. A first indication of the woman’s disappearance was found after 7 months. Her body was discovered in the middle of an open field! It was actually strange because that field had been entirely swept by the firefighters, 300 soldiers, volunteers, police and even athletes.
How was reported later, these residues were |in a terrible state|. The cause of death is unknown.
Several theories have been advanced to explain the strange experiments in the Glastenbury region. Among them are abductions by aliens or a serial killer. But the latter theory may not hold because there was no scheme. In general, the target of a serial killer is some type of individuals, and the victims of Bennington differed both as sex and age.
It could be a creature hiding in the forests of the region? Many have speculated about the various causes paranormal possible and a |black hole| of a type that may exist in the region.
