Common Search Engine Optimization Mistakes

If you are not getting expected results from your SEO strategy, you should consider using different methods, or ask for help from a international seo agency, such as Sitepenalise.fr.

But if want to make your own seo, take a few minutes to review the following lines and learn more about the common SEO mistakes you need to avoid.

Placing far too many targeted keywords on your website code is not a good way to optimize your content. Google will notice that you are making your content for SEO purposes and probably will penalize your site.

Search engine spiders will consider your texts as being of low quality if they will see a high keyword density. It is best to use your keywords within HTML tags to describe your different elements.

Do not choose keywords that you would use to describe your products. Find out which words your visitors are using to talk about the topic of your site. Your visitors might for instance not use the same semantic terms you would look up. You can get a better idea of which keywords are popular by checking Google AdWords Keyword Planner and other similar softwares available online.

An XML sitemap, done the right way,  will help Google to find and to index all your pages but you will get better results if your website is properly organized. Do not pretend to much from your XML sitemap if all your pages are not properly connected together through your website inner links. You should have site-wide links organized in a menu for all your important pages and plenty of individual links connecting your pages together.

Do not be sure that you have done the organization of your site too well, and keep checking it continuously. You need to constantly improve your website structure as you bring more texts and pages to your website. Every time you make a new page, go over old similar articles and add backlinks to your new creation. If you have a lot of old pages, make yourself a detailed archive to better organize your work.

Never stop looking for new ways to get more links. Typically, a link pointed to your website, will keep bringing people and “juice” to your pages for a couple of months or even less.

You need to keep bringing traffic to your content by bringing new links. You can keep your old backlinks active by sharing links to the articles where your backlinks are featured but you should also look for new ways to bring high quality links.

Do not use Black Hat SEO techniques to rank your site. These techniques can be interesting but they are not worth taking the risk of having all your pages vanished from search engines. Black Hat methods include using backlink farms to get more links, keyword stuffing or false redirection URLs. It is best to try only the methods that you are sure they are ethical and accepted by search engines.

If any of these tips sound familiar to you, it is time to make some modifications to your SEO strategy. Do more research on the efficient and ethical methods you can use to better optimize your site so you can improve your rankings.
